Taking the very first step of success
Like everything else that you attempt to achieve in life, becoming successful begins with taking that initial “first step.” So what is the first step you need to take when it comes to achieving personal success?

The first step of personal success is to make a simple decision (or goal) that states you (and you alone) will be responsible for your life . . . period.

Why is “assigning yourself responsibility” so important?
The decision to be responsible for your own life is import because it forces you to own up to the fact that this is your life. This mindset allows you to stop making excuses for not getting what you want out of life. If you are unhappy, then you have made up your mind that it is within your control and it is your responsibility to fix. No longer can you allow random events to dictate how you behave. You must take charge and set your own direction. The reverse mindset of this is to believe that “someone else” is responsible for what happens in your life. Many people accept this mindset because it allows them an “easy out” if their life is not successful. After all, if you are not responsible for your life, then how can you be to blame if it is not working? It is this type of mindset that allows so many people to linger on living in an unhappy manner.

Another way to look at this lack of accountability in one’s life is to view your life through the eyes of “a victim.” Victim’s have no control of their situation. Things happen “to them” without their consent. If we do not accept responsibility for our own life, then we live the life of “victims.”

Before you begin your road to success, it is critical that you place yourself in the driver’s seat. It is critical that you make the decision (goal) that states you (and you alone) will be responsible for your life . . . period.

This is your starting point.
